The Whitest Kids U’ Know come to Denver

I have been a fan of the Whitest Kids U’Know since back in the day when the series was on Fuse. Trashwire even featured a piece about the evolution of tv sketch comedy focusing on WKUK as well as other sketch shows like Human Giant and the short-lived Acceptable TV. Last Monday, I capped off an outrageously fun weekend by heading to the Oriental Theatre in Denver where all five members of the Whitest Kids U’Know were performing live…..

Attack of the Diablo Cody fans

I recently published a review of Diablo Cody’s new series, United States of Tara, on Trashwire. In the review, I talked about how I tried to get into the show, but found the teenage dialogue so annoying that I just couldn’t make it through a second episode.

As I was getting ready to go to bed last night, I saw that a few people had already responded and even had a couple messages in my inbox about the review.

Apparently Cody is a sacred cow in this crazy series of tubes that is the interweb because people were downright pissed that I’d described her writing as anything less than stellar. Continue reading

New article on Trashwire: DVD commentary tracks can be the best special feature

For years now, I’ve been quite the DVD commentary enthusiast. It began with the drunken track on the Cannibal: The Musical DVD featuring intoxicatingly funny conversation from an intoxicated Trey Parker and Matt Stone. That track showed that commentaries can be genuinely “special” features… if filmmakers use them to their full potential.
