A few quick movie recommendations

I’ve been posting short movie recommendations over on Instagram and TikTok and you should check them out if you’re looking for something good to watch.

First up, we have Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead

@trashwire

This movie has themes of friendship, work-life balace, and a zombie shark with legs. What more could you want? πŸ§Ÿβ€β™‚οΈπŸ¦ˆπŸ¦΅ #zom100 #zom100netflix #zombieshark

Next is Broker, which was one of my favorite movies of 2022

Then we have Netflix’s painfully generic Heart of Stone

Then I checked out the Jennifer Lawrence comedy No Hard Feelings

And finally, I had the chance to see one of my all-time faves, Cannibal! The Musical, on the big screen for the first time and I had to make a little video about that too

You can also find all these videos over on the Trashwire youtube channel in the quick reviews playlist.

I reviewed ‘Across the Spider-Verse’

I am in love with the animation in this movie! Every single frame is so beautiful. Spider-Punk and Spider-Man India were my favorite characters and I would watch a spinoff that was just those two. But aside from the stunning visuals, I did have a few issues with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, though.

Here are my brief thoughts about the movie.

And for my full review, head on over to Trashwire.

Introducing the Sketchy Brush Pack

If you’ve followed me on Instagram for any period of time, you know that I really don’t like sketching.

I like diving headfirst into a project and letting the undo button be my sketch. But recently, I’ve been trying to train myself to sketch out my ideas to re-think layouts, lettering styles and sometimes colors. One project whwere I actually attempted to sketch first was this Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure quote, and I was thrilled with the way it turned out.

Maybe there’s something to this sketching thing after all!

So, with that in mind, I started working on a pack of brushes that made sketching more fun. I wanted pencils, ball-point pens, and even the look of a dried-out brush markerβ€”which was modeled after one of my very own frayed and drying brush markers. That turned into this pack of 5 lettering brushes and a bonus texture called the Sketchy Brush Pack. You can get it now on Etsy and Creative Market.

Here is what comes in this brush bundle:

Side note: One of my favorite (and most time-consuming) pieces of all time was created entirely with the Pencil Pusher brush in this pack.

Trying out new styles

I love all kinds of lettering, from super elegant scripts to blocky letters. I’m slowly trying to learn new ways of creating letters so I can try out different styles. After watching a recent tutorial by the ultra-talented Lauren Hom on GoodType‘s Instagram, I got totally obsessed with her 3D style.

Here are just a few of the pieces I’ve made as I practiced.
