In a turn of events that is surprising to absolutely no one, I really liked Rana Naidu, the new Netflix series adapted from Ray Donovan. It stars Rana Daggubati (for whom my feelings can be best described with this emoji 😍) and his superstar uncle Venkatesh Daggubati in the main roles, but the entire cast is incredible. I binged the whole first season in a weekend and I’m really hoping for season 2.

Whatcha Watchin episode 2 is out now!
We’re baaaaack! My friend and fellow Denver film critic Kim Pierce and I just released the second episode of our Whatcha Watchin podcast. Kim attended press screenings for Cocaine Bear and Creed III, but I was sick at home, so I rewatched the YRF Spy Universe movies. We chatted about the Cocaine Bear’s cocaine cubs, Michael B Jordan’s directorial style, why Pathaan is a blast, my crushes on both Ranveer Singh and Rana Daggubati, and why people need to start embracing movies with subtitles.
Check out the episode on Trashwire here, listen on Apple Podcasts, or listen on Spotify.
The first episode of the new Whatcha Watchin podcast is out now and I’m so excited
My friend Kim and I studied film together in college and today we launched the very first episode of our new podcast! Check it out on YouTube, listen to the audio version, or get both on Trashwire.
Whatcha Watchin playlist
At the start of the pandemic, I wanted to try to learn something new. I settled on making short review videos to talk about the streaming TV I’ve been watching. So far, I’ve made seven of them, and I’m hoping to make more in the future.
The most recent one is about Apple TV+ and why Ted Lasso convinced me to give the streaming service another chance after a somewhat disappointing launch.
If you want to check them all out, here’s the playlist on YouTube.
Learning new things during the pandemic
Let’s face it, things are pretty horrible right now between the coronavirus crisis and the growing civil unrest as America starts to reckon with its history of systemic racism. If you’re like me, when you need a break from all the anger and gloom, you binge watch TV shows on your favorite streaming services. You also attempt to do something creative or learn a new skill as a pick-me-up when things are on fire in the world around you. I wanted to learn basic video editing and create some new content for Trashwire, and the result is this little video I made about three great comic book shows I’ve loved.
This is my first attempt at one of these video reviews, so feedback is welcome. Feel free to leave a comment on YouTube or tweet me if you loved it or even if you hated it.
Stay safe out there, wear your mask, and let’s try to stay calm and support each other while we all deal with the chaos around us.
