I just saw this website featured on a TV show. Basically, it helps you fake a phone call to get out of stuff you don’t want to do like bad dates or meetings. Now, you can schedule a time that you’ll get a phone call and you can say, “Sorry, I gotta take this.” and leave.

Yesterday was the Nick Swardson show at the Paramount. The guy that opened for him was a little weak, and he didn’t even know the names of Nick’s movies because he introduced him by saying, “The star of Skates of Glory… wait, that’s not right. What’s it called? Well, I just screwed that up.” To me, if you’re going to open for someone as funny and as quoted as Nick Swardson, you should have your shit together.
Nick came on and it was fucking awesome. That dude is seriously one of the funniest people around. He can make any sentence sound funny. He talked about drinking, old people, and getting a high-five from a monkey, which was sweet.
He also talked a lot about his movies and characters, which was really cool. I think it kicks ass that a guy who has as many funny lines as he does doesn’t get all diva-ish about people quoting him and stuff. He even quoted some of the stuff himself on stage. He did some Terry lines from Reno 911! and he did an entire bit on “Shit’s weak! Wizzeak!” from Grandma’s Boy. So many times, dudes who have a character or who are totally known for one or two roles get all up in arms about people remembering them from those roles that they try to avoid all reference to it like the plague. Nick rules because he embraces the fact that people know him from Grandma’s Boy and as Terry. It even said on the flyer for the show, “Nick Swardson, Terry the roller-skating prostitute from Reno911!”
Anyway, that was cool. I feel like I’ve had such a busy week. It might be kind of nice when it al sort of calms down and I can get some work done and update Trashwire. I have a couple things that I’ve been meaning to put up, but by the time I have a free minute, I’m super tired and all I want to do is go to bed.
On a side note, I think I need to get a new wireless router. Every time I try to connect to it, it gives me an error message or it connects and then drops the signal. It’s worse than bad cell phone service. I kind of want to get the Apple Airport Extreme router because I think the networked hard drive thing is cool. Plus, I’m a dork for technological advances, so I like the idea of the 802.11n standard. I’m sure there’s a cheaper brand that does the same thing though. Apple’s fuckin expensive. I have a MacBook and I love it, but aside from the computers, Apple peripherals and stuff are kind of a rip off.
Oh, and speaking of technology, I got the Wii Play game for the Wii. It’s totally fun, but way harder than the sports games. There’s a lot more using the remote like a mouse and pointing things out, so it requires more precision. I really like the game where you have to find a specific Wii Mii (the little characters you can make kind of like a really simple version of The Sims). It’s cool because you have to pick out specific people in the crowd or find matching people. There’s like three zillion levels and the highest I’ve gotten to was 56. It gets really hard as you go because they run around or they’re in the dark and you have less time to spot them. Still, an awesome game none the less and made even better by the fact that I got it used for like half price. I love the Game Stop by my house!
Anyway, that’s it for now, and possibly for a while because I have a slow week ahead of me.
I just finished the brand new tabloid-style layout for AlexisGentry.net.
You can view it here.
In other news, I’m super tired because I had a big Colorado Film Commission event last night. We had a party at Strings here in Denver for Skills Like This a new movie that was filmed in Colorado. Judging by the trailer, it looks really good. When I got to work today, I wrote up a press release for it that we’re going to be sending out. I hope it came out ok because I’m too exhausted to remember what I wrote.
I decided I need to write more in this blog, especially since I changed around the layout and modeled the main site after this design. I hardly ever write for anything besides Trashwire.com and the Trashwire blog, so I’m trying to branch out and do some stuff that’s more personal. After all, not everything can be a tv review or an interview.
I got a Nintendo Wii about a week ago and it is seriously one of the most awesome things I’ve ever had. They’re super hard to get too because most stores only get like 5 of them and there’s always a waiting list and stuff. I managed to get a hook up to get mine, which was cool. It’s weird because I thought the system would be cool, I just never expected it would be THIS cool. I hooked it up at my mom’s house down the street because she has a huge tv, so it’s really fun to play video games there. The first day, I seriously played the Wii Sports games for like 5 hours. I kick ass at the bowling one. While you’re playing, you don’t realize how much you’re using your arms and stuff, so the next day, I was in pain. My wrists and my arms were killing me. I’ve sworn off the boxing game because, although fun, it’s just too killer. I had to take a break from it to let me wrist return to normal, but I really wanna play it some more tonight.
For now, I’m zoning out at work and watching YouTube videos from The Whitest Kids U Know. I’m so into that show right now. My favorite sketch ever is the “What Really Happened to Abe Lincoln” sketch but I also really like the “Gallon of PCP” sketch too. Really though, all of the sketches are totally hilarious, there’s just something about a dude dressed as Abe Lincoln yelling “Now you fucked up! You have fucked up now!” that I find infinitely funny.
Well, sadly, I actually have some work to do now, so I better get to it. I hope you’ve enjoyed my random ramblings for the day.
