I saw the worst movie of the year

December 16, 2022December 16, 2022Leave a comment

I saw Babylon and to say it wasn’t my cup of tea would be putting it in the mildest terms.

I hated this movie so much…

My review is up now on Trashwire here, if you want to find out why Babylon was the worst movie I saw in 2022.

A Marvel movie made me feel feelings

It feels like it’s been a while since I’ve felt satisfied with an MCU movie, but Black Panther: Wakanda Forever worked surprisingly well for me. Here’s my review on Trashwire or follow me on Letterboxd for more.

‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ Made Me Care About the MCU Again

The most divisive movie of the year is…Thor 4?

Man, the discourse on this movie has been weird. People are either staunchly defending every aspect of it like their lives depend on it or they’re ripping it to shreds and proclaiming that it spells doom for Marvel and Disney.

My opinion wasn’t as wild as all that. Here’s my review.

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Struggles with Tone but Still Fun

Lokesh Kanagaraj makes his acting debut in Arun Matheswaran’s stylish new Tamil film DC, which gives us a fresh take on Devdas meets Bonnie and Clyde. Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi light up the screen together as Das and Chandra in a story with gritty violence and intimate emotion, conveyed through striking cinematography from Mukesh G and some of Anirudh Ravichander’s best music to date. Can Spider-Man: Brand New Day finally reset the MCU? 🕷️ The Odyssey Movie Review: Christopher Nolan’s must-see IMAX epic features a star-studded cast, incredible performances from Robert Pattinson and John Leguizamo, Hoyte van Hoytema’s stunning cinematography, and a sweeping Ludwig Göransson score, making it worth watching on the biggest screen possible. A simple dinner party with their upstairs neighbors leads to a spiral of self-discovery and complicated relationship dynamics for a married couple in Olivia Wilde’s The Invite. Venkatesh Maha’s new Telugu film, Rao Bahadur, is a stunning visual delight that thrives in complexities and gray areas. Samantha leads Nandini Reddy’s Maa Inti Bangaram as Swarna, who tries to be the ideal housewife for her husband’s disapproving family until her violent past is revealed and she has to use her very unique set of skills to defend them. Few directors in the world speak the language of film quite as fluently as Steven Spielberg. With Disclosure Day, he brings his signature sense of wonder, along with John Williams’ score and Janusz Kaminski’s cinematography, but the sci-fi story doesn’t quite live up to the sum of its parts. With the success of young directors like Kane Parsons and Curry Barker changing the horror genre, Abhinav Sunder Nayak’s Mollywood Times couldn’t have arrived at a better moment. Young director Kane Parsons’ viral YouTube short film series comes to the big screen with A24’s Backrooms, exploring the eerie mundanity of liminal space and the internal turmoil of its original characters.
