While I just can’t bring myself to write a full story about American Idol, I have been microblogging about the show on the Trashwire Twitter. You can check out my live tweets on the sidebar during the show or head on over to twitter.com/trashwire to follow the posts and reply.
Here’s a few quotes from what I had to say about last night’s contestants:
Ah, Simon never disappoints. “So you’re truning your back on your band?”
Elijah Scarlett sounded like the distorted effect they put on anonymous witnesses on Dateline.
Now I’m worried we’ll find Leah Marie dead in her car outside Kara’s house.
This dude actually thought it was a good idea to go to a shop and pay money for a tattoo that says “Sexual Chacolate”
Cody Sheldon is like Sanjaya only with over-tweezed eyebrows.
I think that one dude was a frightened homeless rabbi
It might be hard to express yourself in 140 characters, but it seems roomy when describing these so-bad-they’re-good contestants. Besides, who wants to watch after the first few episodes when the only people left are those who have actual talent?
Yes, but thats why you want to watch – for the talent. Its great to watch people make a fool of themselves but you also want to watch those who can actually sing, sing! For me if its going to be a singing competition, the focus should be on a competition that centers around singing.
I only had a chance to watch the first episode and wasn’t very impressed. I actually watched it while reading a paper and since I only lost my place a couple of times, that tells me I really wasn’t into the show. I heard the new judge is from New Jersey and thus I was hoping for big things from her but she didn’t really deliver. She made a fool of herself challenging the bikini girl. I didn’t think the bikini girl was that attractive but she could sing. Even if she couldn’t sing though, any judge who challenges a contestant makes a fool of themselves and Kara did the other night. What is pleasant about her is she is opinionated and doesn’t pander. I like that honesty. Simon does a good job of it and even Randy does but no one takes Randy seriously because he plays around too much. Its only been one episode so I am kind of holding out hope Kara will continue speaking up when contestants are good and they are bad.
